Step Success has been announced as Somerset Business Award Finalist
As one of the UK’s leading health and wellness programme providers we are very pleased to be announced as Somerset Business Award Finalists. This will be the second award final in 2012 for the Somerset based business, who also made it to the final of the Flame awards in the ‘Spark of innovation’ category.
Step Success is a national brand that runs programmes throughout the UK and is based in the picturesque hills of Somerset. Both the founder and team working on Step Success originate from Somerset and being announced as finalists for a local business award is a fantastic achievement, especially considering this year’s entries increased by 20%.
Step Success made it to the final stage following a rigorous and intensive judging process, including a two hour site visit from one of the judges to meet the team and look at how our business works. A total of 14 categories were open to Somerset businesses of all shapes and sizes and from every sector, Step Success is a finalist in the ‘New Business of the Year Award’ category along with two other Somerset based business.
The next stage for us is to welcome five students from Bridgwater College who will be making a short film about Step Success in preparation for the awards ceremony in November.
The Somerset Business Awards ceremony will be held at Somerset Cricket Club on November 16th. Till then the team at Step Success will be keeping our fingers crossed that the ceremony will see them bring home the ‘New Business of the Year Award’.
Jenn Chidley, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the Somerset Chamber of Commerce – ‘the Somerset Business Awards’ organisers – is delighted with the results for 2012 and comments, “This year there has been 20 per cent more entries and it is fantastic to see so many businesses have such passion to drive their business forward. The finalists have something very special about them, so well done to them all! The standard was exceptionally high this year and we are all looking forward to celebrating the finalists’ success at the awards ceremony evening in November.”

Health & wellness technology pioneer, Step Success, is now an official partner of the Lotus Formula 1 Racing Team’s Human Performance Centre. This exciting partnership will see the corporate wellness programme provider working with The Lotus F1 Team Irace Professional Driver Programme & their personal trainers, the Formula 1 pit crew, and factory based staff to improve health and fitness levels of the entire team.
As part of the programme, each driver on the Lotus F1 Team Irace Professional driver programme, their personal trainers & the Lotus F1 Team pit crew will be provided with an Actiped+, a small device which clips easily onto their shoe and tracks four key measurements; the distance covered, the number of steps taken, how many calories your body has burnt and the length of time you’ve been active. The advanced technology means you can get a ‘reading’ on all foot-based activities from walking and running, to cycling, gym work, team sports, and even swimming.
The aim is for the whole Team to take simple steps to improve daily activity levels, ultimately making them fitter and faster, thus enabling the team to preform vital tasks more efficiently. Split seconds will make the difference between 1st and 2nd place – so improving fitness levels is a key factor in Motorsport.
For an overview of daily activity and fitness levels, all those in the new wellness programme will be able to access a unique social networking site – www.stepsuccess.com – to download individual data. The team’s personal trainers will also have access to this activity data, allowing them to ‘fine tune’ individual health and fitness programmes to gain the best results. As an added motivation to keep fit and fuel the competitive spirit, members of the group will also be able to invite colleagues to join them in unique fitness challenges aimed to increase the total number of steps taken each day.
Joel Campbell, founder and Managing Director of Step Success says: “It’s a real privilege to be working alongside such skilled sporting professionals and to support the team to improve their performance levels this season. This scheme is about taking the team’s understanding of their daily activity levels, nutrition and general wellbeing to the next level and equipping them with the statistics to make small, positive changes that will increase results. We’re looking forward to seeing what a difference this type of technology can make.”
Paul Seaby – Race Team Manager
Being a part of a Race Team is a physically demanding job that requires people to be in ‘top shape’. While fitness has always been a priority for us, working with the Step Success programme will give us access to real time intelligence on daily activity levels. Armed with this knowledge, we’re confident that we can not only improve overall fitness for individuals, but also boost the motivation & performance of the whole team.
David Thompson MSc – Lotus F1 Team Irace Professional Fitness Coach & Sports Scientist
